A searchable database of 421 equality-law judgments from the Court of Justice of the European Union, spanning 1971 to 2018.

Scope

The database covers judgments across 28 Member States, organised by:

3 types of legal procedure
19 directives and treaty articles as legal sources
7 grounds of discrimination
9 additional case categories

Data Structure

Each judgment record includes the CURIA case number, case name, the referring Member State court (for preliminary references), the CJEU chamber, collective actor name, a summary, dates of judgment and lodging, and classification across multiple boolean category fields covering 73 columns in total.

Editing

Authorised editors can upload updated CSV data through the data editor. Uploads are committed to a self-hosted GitLab repository and automatically rebuilt and deployed.

Technology

Built with Astro, Tailwind CSS, daisyUI, MiniSearch for client-side full-text search, and Apache ECharts for data visualisations. Hosted on Cloudflare Pages with GitLab CI for automated deployment.
